SHRM ® Essentials of Human Resource Management

SHRM Logo imageThis fifteen (15) hour introductory course offers a solid, comprehensive overview of human resource roles and responsibilities. We will provide participants with critical knowledge to help reduce potentially costly lawsuits and improve the ability to handle challenging HR issues. This course is ideal for those who are just starting out in the HR profession, small business owners, or those who are looking for an effective way to improve their employee management skills. Tuition includes all SHRM® study materials which will be distributed the first class.

HR Topics Covered: HR Management, Employment Law, Recruitment and Selection; Compensation and Benefits, Employee Development and Performance Management.
In cooperation with SHRM®, 1.5 CEUs and a certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of all hours. Partial CEUs not awarded.

Instructor: Patricia Morrow, MSM, SPHR. Ms. Morrow is on the full-time faculty at Northern Essex Community College and is Chair of the Department of Business Administration. Her human resources experience was gained through work in various industries including construction, healthcare, retail, and education working as an HR Generalist. Pat holds a Masters in Management from Lesley University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She has been teaching Human Resources Management at the college level for over a decade and has been Senior Professional in Human Resources certified since 2002 and continues her ongoing professional development.

This course is approved by the Massachusetts Workforce Express Fund.   This pool of     funding is designed for small business owners with less than 100 employees to quickly   provide training for employees.  Funding is paid to employers (not employees). Applications   must be received 6 weeks in advance of program.
