Your MCC Orientation experience starts here:

1. Complete Your Online Orientation

Button that links to online orientation. It says "Start your orientation"MCC's online orientation* can be completed at your own pace from wherever you are.

After completing the online orientation, you will:

  • know more about academic expectations
  • learn how to navigate the campus
  • find out about getting involved on campus
  • feel confident about finding academic resources and student support

* Required for all new students enrolled in at least 6 credits and taking at least one day course.


2. Attend your First-Year Experience Course

Image: "Smart Start Session First-Year Experience IDS 101" These 2-day accelerated FYE courses are will be offered on campus/in person and online in a virtual classroom setting. 

Students who attend an FYE course will:

  • be introduced to essential student success skills
  • learn about MCC's academic success and student support resources
  • work with advisors to create a personalized academic and financial plan
  • meet other students and learn how to get involved in co-curricular activities

3. Join us for Engagement Week Activities

New students are invited to our Engagement Week events this summer! Engagement Week introduces you to MCC and is a great chance for you to meet classmates and staff members in a fun setting. It's intended to help with the transition into college by providing inclusive and welcoming small-group experiences for incoming students!


Veterans and Military-Connected Student Virtual Onboarding Session

8/25 – 9am-12pm – Register by email

The Veterans Resource Center will be hosting a virtual student onboarding session for veteran and military-connected (active military, National Guard, Reserves or the spouse/dependent of a veteran) students. During the session, students will learn important information regarding college resources, receive an overview of VA educational benefits, and discuss the process of transitioning to college. A panel of Student Services staff and VITAL Services counselors will also share information about their areas and how they may be of assistance. To register for this session, email Jessica A. Office of Civic and Service Learning Welcome and Service Project

8/31 – 1-3pm – Bedford Enrollment Center, Suite 200

The Office of Civic and Service-Learning connects MCC students to organizations and resources that help them make a difference in the world, with a focus on engaging in the democratic process through voting and advocating for change and giving back to our community through service and volunteering.  Drop in to our office to learn more about ways to get involved both in the classroom and out, get some free swag, and participate in our first service project of the new year – making cards for the patients at Lowell General Hospital to brighten their days a little!

First Generation Student Onboarding

8/31 – 10am-12pm – Link to register 

9/1 – 5-7pm – Link to register

The TRIO Student Success Program (SSP) will host two virtual onboarding sessions for students who are first generation to college (those whose parents have not earned a college degree). During these sessions, participants will learn about the TRIO SSP and other support services available to first generation Middlesex students. The focus will be on transitioning to college, learning the language of college, making connections, and becoming aware of the resources available at Middlesex. With a special emphasis on the college experience for first generation students, these sessions will include information to help you get ready to begin college classes, plan for your future, and make the most of your time at MCC. Once registered, you will be sent the Zoom link for the meeting.


STEM Faculty Meet & Greet with the STEM Starter Academy

9/1 – 12-1pm – Register by email

The STEM Starter Academy (SSA) fosters student awareness, interest, and academic success by providing a variety of opportunities through programs and services for STEM students. Join us as we kick off the school year by getting to meet and learn about our STEM Faculty. All MCC students enrolled in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math program are encouraged to attend. Students who are still deciding on a major but may be interested in these programs are also welcome! To register for this session, email SSA@middlesex.mass.edu and include your name and A-number.


Virtual Music Bingo

9/1 – 1-2pm – Link to register

Do you enjoy music and meeting new friends? New students can enjoy some tunes, meet classmates, and win great prizes. The event is free for MCC students. Our DJ will get you dancing and singing in the comfort of your own home!

 

Virtual Family Q&A with Student Affairs

9/1 - 5pm - Register by email

Parents and families of new and returning students are invited to join members of Student Affairs Leadership to learn about College services and resources. This informal virtual gathering is an opportunity for family members to meet one another and have their questions answered. For more information or to register, email families@middlesex.mass.edu. A Zoom link and password will be provided with your registration confirmation.

 

F9: The Fast Saga - Movie on the Quad

9/2 – 6:30 doors/7:30 show – Bedford Quad

Join us for an outdoor movie night! Bring your chairs and blankets, sit under a beautiful starry night, and watch F9, the latest movie in the Fast & Furious series, on our jumbo screen. Enjoy free popcorn (while it lasts)! Quad opens at 6:30, and the movie starts at 7:30pm. Please note this movie is rated PG-13, and this event is weather permitting. This event is co-sponsored by the Alumni Association and the Office of Student Engagement. No registration required.

Your first month of college is filled with ways to connect with friends, join clubs and organizations on campus, and learn about all the resources to help you succeed at MCC!
