Hands-on Review of Local Anesthesia Techniques
If you are a Registered Dental Hygienist with a valid, current state permit/license to
administer Local Anesthesia and would like to have faculty oversee your technique,
this class is for you. We will review maxillary and mandibular nerve blocks. Specific
injection techniques will be determined by participants. The goal of this course
is to become more comfortable with injection techniques that you have already
learned, or to troubleshoot any barriers you have encountered. This course includes
four hours clinical and a two-hour lecture. Participants are required to sit as a
patient. Required Forms: In order to participate you must have your permit/license
to administer local anesthesia from your state dental board and sit as a patient for
this hands-on course. Please submit the following forms/copies to the Community
Education and Training Department at MCC: state RDH license, CPR certification,
state permit to Administer Local Anesthetic, medical history, and consent form.
Memo of Understanding is not required. Liability insurance covered by MCC. Note:
If you have passed a local anesthesia certification course between January 2015
to the present, you may also participate in this class with proof of passed L/A

Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide
This training program (including 24 hours of weekend clinical training at a
local long-term care facility) prepares you for an entry level career as a Nurse
Assistant. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for the
Massachusetts nurse assistant certification exam. Students will learn how
to appropriately care for residents in long-term care facilities and hospitals
as well as personal patient care, patient rights, lifting and turning patients,
safety, infection control, vital signs, record keeping, mental health care of
residents, and stress management. Students will also be required to pass a
literacy exam and complete a CORI/SORI check and be able to lift and move
50 pounds. Course is not eligible for waivers or vouchers. (100 hours) $1,095

Caring for the Patient with Dementia
This curriculum is based on the model of dementia care called
Habilitation Therapy. This workshop is designed for staff and care
givers who work in agencies or home settings that serve people with memory
loss, Alzheimer's disease, or a related dementia. The goals of this program are to
create an understanding of how damage to the brain impacts function, promote
understanding how to tailor tasks and activities to disease stage and to provide
practical strategies for accommodating "responsive" behaviors. Participants will
receive at the conclusion of the course a Certificate of Completion. (12 hours) $199

Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health
Concerns ­ An Overview
This course is designed for health care professionals that are either new
to the health care industry or who are unfamiliar with Developmental Disabilities,
Mental Health issues and Elder care. The student will learn how to become more
aware of the needs of individuals with varied developmental and mental health
problems and care for them with understanding, sensitivity, and respect. In
this course, the student will learn about different types of disabilities and learn
communications skills, approaches to personal care, environmental engineering for
safety, as well as, learning how to work as a team in caring for these populations in
a stress-free manner. This class is designed as an overview. Specific classes will be
offered in future semesters to break down this course outline and delve into detail

According to the latest fitness industry salary guide, Personal Trainers are earning
