Project Management
Lean/Six Sigma
This course provides an introduction to Lean Manufacturing and Six
Sigma principles. Simply put, lean means the elimination of waste in all
its forms. We will start by discussing the pressures pushing companies to introduce
lean systems, chief among them, improving profits! In order to understand how
to detect and eliminate waste, we will learn to draw process maps, identify
bottlenecks, and define inefficiencies. We will introduce various lean and quality
system tools and processes including Just-in-Time, KANBAN, 5S, and the 7 QC
tools. Ultimately, we will weave these lean and process improvement concepts
into Six Sigma principles. Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology for eliminating
defects and waste; the methodology focuses on process improvement through
reduction of variation. This course will build on the concepts of Lean Manufacturing
and introduce students to the basic statistical methods used to measure process
and product quality. (24 hours) $349
