Masala Mixin' (Vegetarian Style)
Masala Mixin' is an introductory Indian cooking class that will allow participants
to experiment with Indian spices while using typical Indian cooking methods and
techniques. Using basic Indian spices, you will learn to create simple meals that can
be easily managed if planned a little in advance. In this series of four classes, we
will learn about Indian spices that are used on a daily basis and sautéing techniques
used in Indian cooking, as well as cook vegetables, rice, beans, and breads - staples
of the Indian diet. We will also make easily prepared appetizers, introduce some
desserts, and discuss some tips on how to mix and match ingredients that one
may favor more than others. Please bring containers to take food home. An $80
materials fee is due to the instructor on the first night of class. $120

Plant-Based Protein
This class focuses on the one question everyone will ask a vegan-"where do you get
your protein?". Plant-based foods are surprisingly high in protein, and we'll compare
vegetables and nut based products against their animal protein counterparts.
Making sure you get enough protein every day is essential so all of our recipes
in this course will focus on incorporating them into your meals. And contrary to
popular belief, vegan proteins are also one of the cheapest forms of plant-based
nutrition (beans, grains, and tempeh), so all of these meals will happily feed your
family at a wallet-friendly price! A $20 food fee is payable to the instructor the first
night of class. (2.5 hours) $35.

Art Exploration Seminars
Henri Matisse
A master of 20th century Modernism, the artistic career of Henri Matisse (1869 -
1954) proves his boundless creativity and energy. This seminar presents an overview
of Henri Matisse's life and art, beginning with his powerful Fauvist work. Matisse's
style continued to change and evolve, as we see his subject matter gravitate around
the female form, leading to his mature style focusing purely on color and form.
Matisse's experimentation with reduction of space and simplification of form, set
the stage for the incredible Cut-Outs series. (2 hours) $29

Edward Hopper
Edward Hopper (1882-1967) was a prominent American realist painter and
printmaker. This seminar will present an overview of his work. While he was most
popularly known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist
and printmaker in etching. Both in his urban and rural scenes, his spare and finely
calculated renderings reflected his personal vision of modern American life. (2

works depict dancers. He is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism,
although he rejected the term, preferring to be called a realist. His portraits are
notable for their psychological complexity and for their portrayal of human isolation.
