Nursing

What do I need to apply to the Nursing program?

    • Attend the required Virtual Nursing Overview Session. This LIVE, virtual session is offered over Zoom. Please click here to sign up. Our Fall 2023 session schedule is live!
    • Completion of one (1) of the following biology related classes:
      • College Biology with lab with a grade of B (83%) or better within the last 10 years
      • OR
      • College Anatomy & Physiology I with lab, with a grade of B (83%) or better within the last 10 years
    • Completion of high school OR college Chemistry with lab, with a grade of C (73%) or better within the last 10 years
    • Eligible for ENG 101 English Composition I and MAT 177 Statistics
      • Eligibility may be demonstrated through placement, course enrollment, previous college coursework, or high school transcripts.
    • Cumulative 2.7 GPA or higher
    • One completed electronic Health Program Recommendation Form
      • The recommendation is submitted through the application. There is not a separate form. The recommendation should be from an individual who can evaluate your performance in a work or classroom setting and cannot be from relatives and family members. 
    • Completion of the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) - Nursing with a minimum score requirement of 60% in each section (Reading, Math, Science, and English), taken within the last 12 months from a valid testing site.
      • We only accept TEAS from four locations. We can accept TEAS scores taken on campus at Middlesex Community College. We also accept TEAS scores on campus at Mount Wachusett Community College, Northern Essex Community College and North Shore Community College taken on January 1, 2023 and onward.

      • Middlesex Community College does not combine or round scores.
      • Students can take the TEAS three times within the calendar year. When retesting students must wait 45 days between testing dates.
  • Review the Nursing Program Information and Admission Requirements to learn about the Nursing Day and Part-Time Evening Weekend Options. 
  • Review the TEAS Testing FAQs  to learn how to register for the TEAS and other important information about the TEAS requirement.
  • Apply by completing a Middlesex Community College Admission Online Application.
  • Submit transcripts by sending them to the addresses listed here.
  • Deadline: Admission to Nursing is on a rolling basis. Students who have completed their application are placed on the waiting list and are ranked in order by the date their application is complete. This is the order in which students are admitted to the program. Students are not applying to start in a specific semester of the program, but to be placed on the waiting list.
    • Full-Time Day program starts a class of 30 students every Fall (September) and Spring (January)
    • Part-Time Evening/Weekend program starts a class of 30 students every Fall (September)

Nursing LPN-RN Advanced Placement Option

We are currently encouraging all LPNs to apply to Fundamentals due to reduced wait time and guaranteed admission for qualified applicants.

Recent LPN graduates with a 83% average or better from the following LPN programs are encouraged to schedule a one-on-one meeting with Jennifer Migliozzi, Assistant Director of Admissions, after attending the required Virtual Nursing Overview Session and completing the admission requirements listed above:

  • Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School
  • Greater Lowell Technical School
  • Shawsheen Technical School
