Personal Enrichment A Little Bite of Everything Art Seminar: Edward Hopper 17 This course covers a little bit of everything you could think of! Decorate chocolate covered treats, cookies, cupcakes even cake decorating. You will learn the ins and outs of decorating any dessert to the T! This seminar will present an overview of his work. While he was most popularly known for his oil painting, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. Both in his urban and rural scenes, his spare and finely calculated renderings reflected his personal vision of modern American life. Barnes in 1922 to “promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and horticulture.” The Barnes holds one of the finest collections of PostImpressionist and early Modern paintings, with extensive works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau, Amedeo Modigliani, Chaim Soutine and Giorgio de Chirico, as well as American masters Charles Demuth, William Glackens, Horace Pippin and Maurice Prendergast. This seminar presents an overview of Henri Matisse’s life and art, beginning with his powerful Fauvist work. Matisse’s style continued to change and evolve, as we see his subject matter gravitate around the female form, leading to his mature style focusing purely on color and form. Matisse’s experimentation with reduction of space and simplification of form, set the stage for the incredible Cut-Outs series. We will cover the principles and elements of Floral Design, as well as fresh flower care and handling. A hands-on workshop will be included in each class session. All flowers, materials, and tools will be provided you can take home each project. No experience is necessary! While this is more of an educational program, the atmosphere is casual and the material we’ll work with is lovely. We’ll use a different combination of florals each week.
