This training will help participants learn how to develop a babysitting business; keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Cost of course includes a copy of a Babysitter’s Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, CD-ROM for babysitters to use in the class and on the job and the certification fee. Newborn Care Specialists assist parents in their home the first few weeks or months of baby’s life with parent education, feeding/breastfeeding, basic baby care, and light baby-related housekeeping. It is important to note that a Newborn Care Specialist requires special training and education specific to the profession. The NCS program will cover a wide range of topics including Bathing, Sleep Practices, Feeding, Swaddling, Siblings developmental milestones and so much more. Focus on composition, color mixing and perspective will be encouraged. In day one, students will bring in small items from home as inspiration for a still life painting full of personal symbolism. In day two, learners will expand their painting knowledge to create a beautiful and expressive winter wonderland painting. Engaging movement breaks and games will break up the day. As high school students on IEP’s and 504 plans enter the post-secondary arena, there is significant need for clear information on the process to receive accommodations and support services. In addition, we will review the transition between high school and college for students with learning differences and disabilities.
