OSHA/BioTech/Health Careers
Spanish for Law Enforcement EDG 903
Mastering basic Spanish will give you more power to handle situations involving Spanish-speaking victims, witnesses, or criminals. Whether you’re new to the Spanish language or just want a refresher, this course will teach you the basic Spanish phrases you need for everything from making casual conversation to handling life-or-death situations. You’ll start with simple vocabulary for everyday topics including colors, numbers, conversational phrases, family names, and words for asking questions. Learn Spanish terminology you can use during arrests, traffic stops, medical emergencies, and many other common law enforcement situations. Once you have registered and paid through MCC, you must complete an online orientation at www.ed2go.com/mcc. This course is not eligible for waivers or vouchers. CPR Certification
Cost is $50 for MCC students, faculty and staff and $80 for non-MCC participants. Participants must register and pay online through the MCC Office of Student Engagement website. (no walk-ins) Spots will only be held for the first 20 paid registrants. Sorry, no refunds. Certification cards typically issued in 2 to 3 weeks.
BLS Healthcare Provider Level course provides 2-year certification, appropriate for healthcare professionals and also meets the requirements of all MCC Health Programs. 2018 CPR Certification classes will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

OSHA General Industry 10-Hour Training
This training program provides information for safe practices governed by OSHA standards for General Industry Workers, Worker rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint, as well as identification, prevention and remediation of workspace dangers will be discussed. Instruction time is 10 hours minimum with additional time for testing and discussions. Students passing the test on the last day of class will receive OSHA certificates. OSHA cards are mailed within 90 days. * An $8 fee for OSHA cards will be collected during the first class. Health Careers
In this online program, you will master all the skills you need to begin a career as a physical therapy aide. You will learn what physical therapy entails, identify the responsibilities of a PT aide, and develop a working knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology. In addition, you will get a solid grounding in patient care skills, infection control, and the legal and ethical regulations that affect healthcare providers. Equipment Calibration
In this 10-hour course, students are introduced to the fundamentals of a successful calibration program. Among the topics included are: SI units, accuracy and precision, lab compliance, calibration procedures and records, traceability, and continuous process improvement. There is a hands-on component that includes calibration of several pieces of laboratory equipment. In addition, students will have an opportunity to visit a local industry calibration lab. A certificate will be granted upon successful completion of this course. Physical Therapy Aide GES 125
Equipment Validation
In this 10-hour course, students are introduced to the fundamentals of equipment commissioning and validation. Among the topics included are: Regulatory requirements and guidelines, procedures and techniques, and practical applications. There is a hands-on component that includes commissioning and validation of several pieces of equipment using typical validation instruments. A certificate will be granted upon successful completion of this course. This ONLINE course teaches medical terminology from an anatomical approach. Root terms are divided by each body system. The origin, a combined form, and an example of non-medical everyday usage is provided for each root term. Word Associations are provided as a learning tool. Unusual and interesting information is provided in regards to each term.
