Poetry Reading by Emily Yoon

Emily Yoon, author of Ordinary Misfortunes (2017), will be reading from her new anthology A Cruelty Special to Our Species (2018). She is winner of the Sunken Garden Chapbook Prize and was the 2017 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg fellow at the Poetry Foundation. Her work often confronts the history of violence against women and her new book focuses particularly on the Korean “comfort women” who were forced into sexual labor by the Japanese during WWII.
