Institute (ELI)
ELI is a credit program held on the Lowell Campus that provides
instruction in basic English and skills essential to American

Summer Courses
PREPARE TO ATTEND COLLEGE (PAC)
This noncredit program combines Basic English instruction with
college and career counseling. The classes are offered during the
day at three different levels from beginner to advanced for 42
instructional hours. Cost: Free not including textbooks

HOLISTIC BASIC ENGLISH ­ PART ONE
The course combines Basic English instruction that includes reading,
writing, grammar, and listening skills. Topics focus on knowledge
needed to live in American society in relation to technology, careers,
daily living skills, and consumer information. This non-credit course
meets for 42 instructional hours. Cost: $200 not including textbooks.

HOLISTIC BASIC ENGLISH ­ PART TWO
The course combines Basic English instruction that includes reading,
writing, grammar, and listening skills. Topics focus on knowledge
needed to live in American society. This course does not repeat
material from IEL 101. This non-credit course meets for 42
instructional hours. Cost: $200 not including textbooks.

PRONUNCIATION AND ACCENT REDUCTION
This course focuses on spoken American English skills that will
improve oral communication for non-native speakers. This non-credit
