We aim to provide a comfortable, supportive, and inclusive environment that aims to assess student's skill levels to maximize student success. We endeavor to advise students about their placements in a caring and compassionate manner through our knowledgeable and professional team. Students looking to take courses at MCC should follow these steps for course placement:

STEP 3 - MULTIPLE MEASURES
In many cases, you can place into college-level English and Mathematics based on your
high school GPA, SAT scores, ACT scores or previous college-level courses.
Click here to review our multiple measure criteria for placement.
If you meet the multiple measure criteria for placement, you can send your transcripts
or scores to the following locations.
High school transcripts should be sent to admissions@middlesex.mass.edu.
SAT, ACT, GED, or HiSet scores should be sent to placement@middlesex.mass.edu.
College transcripts should be sent to registrar@middlesex.mass.edu.
If you found English and/or Math classes in high school very challenging or had extra help or support provided to you, we strongly encourage you to e-mail ACE@middlesex.mass.edu to make an appointment for a "Make the Right Choice" session to aid you in your course placement.
STEP 4 - GUIDED SELF-PLACEMENT
If you do not meet the multiple measure criteria, you can use guided self-placement
for your English and Math courses. Guided self-placement is only for students who have not taken any previous English
and Math courses at Middlesex Community College. Returning students wishing to change their placement will need to take the Accuplacer
exam.

STEP 5 - "MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE" SESSIONS
If you are unsure of your Guided English or Math self-placement, e-mail ACE@middlesex.mass.edu to request an appointment for a "Make the Right Choice" session. These sessions are
designed to provide a refresher in your reading, writing, or math skills and help
you make an informed decision based on your skills and motivation.
STEP 6- ACCUPLACER
If you are a Dual Enrollment homeschooler, need to take the A&P Challenge exam, or are trying to place into Calculus, you would
need to take Accuplacer. Returning students wishing to change their placement can
request to be placed on a waitlist. Due to limited availability in administering Accuplacer,
most retesting will resume when the college reopens. To schedule an appointment for Accuplacer, please review the information here and
e-mail placement@middlesex.mass.edu.
STEP 7- PLACEMENT CONFIRMATION
Once you have completed the steps above, make sure your placement is confirmed.
- Students using multiple measures can email placement@middlesex.mass.edu to verify documentation was received.
- Students using guided self-placement will receive a confirmation email when placements are received within 1-2 business days. Self-placement forms are usually processed same-day, but please allow 48 hours for our team to review. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your spam, junk or others folder. You can also contact us at placement@middlesex.mass.edu to verify your placements are in the system.
- Students using Accuplacer will have their scores recorded by the Placement office upon completion of the test and do not need to confirm placement.
Once your placement is confirmed, please sign up for a New Registration Session – NEWREGZOOM Link
