STEM Starter Academy
MCC's STEM Starter Academy (SSA) offers you support and resources that will lead you to success in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. By taking advantage of our services and learning opportunities, you will enter the workforce skilled and prepared.
Mission Statement
Launched in 2013, SSA was created to build, enhance and maintain our ability to graduate and transfer students in the STEM associate degree and certificate programs.
Supported by the State Department of Higher Education and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, SSA's goal is to match the state's workforce needs in the STEM career fields.
By providing a variety of opportunities through programs and services for STEM students, SSA fosters:

- Interest
- Academic success
We aim to increase the amount of successful students in STEM pathways programs, our mission is to:
- Recruit
- Retain
- Graduate
Objectives
SSA will help to address gaps, promote alignment, and build capacity to meet your needs and refine the model of articulated student support services and structured STEM curriculum.
This approach will:
- Improve student retention
- Enhance student readiness for and recruiting into STEM pathway programs
- Increase student awareness of and access to STEM programs of study and career opportunities
- Increase completion through award of certificates or degrees and pathways
