Summer Engineering Program with UMass Lowell
July 6-August 16

MCC Students requiring one of these courses for their Associate Degree are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to cover the cost of tuition and fees. (Textbook and materials are responsibility of student.) Qualified applicants must be in good academic standing, meet the course prerequisites, and be recommended by an MCC Engineering faculty member.

Scholarship recipients are required to attend correlating activities including an orientation, student success/transfer workshop, and end of term celebration.

Surveying I & Surveying I Lab

Course Description
A presentation of the basic instruments used in survey processes including distance, angle and level measurements. Analysis and adjustment of random errors. Principles of closed and open traverses. Fieldwork practice in instrument use and office-type projects in contour mapping and the application of contoured to highway and water-control projects.

Physical Properties of Matter & Physics III Lab

Course Description
Fluid statics, dynamics of fluids, properties of solids, advanced topics in waves and vibrations, temperature and heat flow, kinetic theory of gases, thermodynamics, and the limits of classical physics.

Summer Transfer Academies

The Department of Higher Education seeks to continue supporting community college students in their education as they pursue bachelor’s degrees at Massachusetts’s Public 4-year institutions. Students transferring from any of the fifteen community colleges in Massachusetts to a state college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field are welcome to apply to these programs.  MCC students can apply to any institution to which they plan to transfer.

 

UMass Lowell

MCC has a unique partnership with UML to offer a FREE online course and student success program for student transferring from MCC to UML.  

Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology
M, W-Th 11:00 AM –1:20 PM

Course Description
This course will cove basic topics in cell and molecular biology, including structures of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids, structure of DNA and it replication and repair, transcription, and cell-cell communication. The molecular biology of cells and the regulation of cellular processes will be emphasized.

Salem State University

Participate in a free summer school course to get you started—Students will be supported by peer instructors and have an opportunity to meet STEM professors and talk about the different programs and careers in STEM.

Introduction to Professional Writing
W 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Course Description
During Summer Session II, take ENL 310 Introduction to Professional Writing, which will have a STEM focus and count as an advanced writing Level II course, which is part of the general education requirements.
