Dear SoTL Colleagues:
Welcome back to a new academic year! We hope you are renewed from the summer and off to a good start.
We are excited about the year ahead for our SoTL community. Our Mission Statement
remains:
Being Equity-Minded, Creating a Culture of Persistence and Student Success.
The SoTL theme we are creating for this academic year is New Realities in Education.
Our fabulous Get Inspired! SoTL Conference, which many of you were able to attend, featuring Dr. Luke Hobson launched us into a provocative discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI). We will continue exploring the use of AI in our courses, AI policies, and many aspects of this emerging concept in education. Our monthly meeting will include a presentation on some part of AI that impacts us as educators. We will also include showcasing instructor's pedagogies for asynchronous online courses.
As you all know, new realities in education are not limited to classroom use of AI and the strengthening of online education, and we are not limiting ourselves to these topics either. Let us know if you have any suggestions on a topic you would like us to discuss in SoTL.
Our SoTL learning community is a community of practice committed to providing a space for exploration, discussion, and action. We appreciate and value your commitment to the mission of SoTL.
We are honored to be partners with you in our commitment to the success of our students.
