Adult Learning Center

WELCOME to the Adult Learning Center located on the Bedford Campus of Middlesex Community College. The Adult Learning Center offers FREE non-credit Adult Basic Education classes to students preparing for high school equivalency testing, preparing to attend college or job training, or obtaining employment.

High School Equivalency tests, including HiSet and GED, are FREE for all Massachusetts residents.

Class information:

  • Our next semester begins in September 2024.
  • Classes are FREE!
  • You can choose to attend a Day Program OR Evening Program
  • DAY PROGRAM classes are a combination of online and in-person sessions and are held on Tuesdays (In Person), Wednesdays (ONLINE) and Thursdays (In Person) from 9am-12:30pm.
  • EVENING PROGRAM classes are held ONLINE ONLY on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm-9pm.
  • We offer two semesters which run September-December and January-May.
Students will need:ALC Class
  • to be a resident of Massachusetts
  • a computer with a keyboard, speaker, microphone, and camera
  • reliable access to the internet
  • to attend and participate in live class sessions
  • time to complete homework outside of class

  • Registration opens in July. You will be contacted via email after we receive your registration form and after July 5. 
  • You will need to take a Reading AND Math Proficiency Test before beginning classes at the ALC.

Please Note:while many of our students enroll to improve their English skills as part of their academic and career goals, we are NOT an ESOL program.
