Web Design/Technical Writing
Web Design Certificate
This certificate program delves into the basic design theory, planning,
deployment, and ongoing development of a website using WordPress and other
blogging and content management systems. Basic understanding of Windows
and the internet are prerequisites. WordPress will be used for all courses. To
earn a certificate, candidates must complete the following five courses: Up
and Running on the Web, Scripting Languages for the Web, Designing for the
Web, Maintenance and Security for Web Servers, and Advanced Topics for the
to receive your certificate.
Advanced Topics for the Web
How do search engines like Google and Bing see your website, and how
can you achieve a higher rank that will allow users to more easily find
your site? How can you sell products or services through your website and
process online payments? How can you include photo galleries, web-based
forms, or portfolios into your website? How can you turn your website into
a specialized social network? This course will explore ways to optimize your

Scripting Language for Web
An introduction to the most common scripting languages of the web: HTML
tags that tell a browser program how to render a page; CSS style instructions
that control the way page elements look; JavaScript code that can be used
to run programs within a web page; and PHP, a server-side scripting language
that generates dynamic HTML and CSS code. Students will learn how these
scripting languages interact to create web pages, and specific applications
of each scripting language to WordPress and other blogging and content

Technical Writing Certificate Program
This certificate program provides students with the skills and tools to clearly
and accurately inform users about technical information. In this 120-hour
(two semester) post graduate, non-credit certificate program, students will
learn how to conduct audience and task analysis, work with subject matter
experts, understand product documents and the product-development cycle,
write clear procedures, review and revise technical information, manage
projects and make content usable. Also covered are HTML and XML and
tools for authoring information for electronic and print distribution (Adobe
FrameMaker). Through lecture, online learning, and projects, students
will create a portfolio featuring samples of their work. The certificate
program includes 2 semesters/courses: Writing and Managing Information
and Technology and Tools for the Technical Writer. Applications are being
accepted for Fall 2017/Spring 2018.
Certified Bookkeeper. GES 202
Certified Bookkeepers are to bookkeeping what CPAs are to accounting:
the elite of the profession. Becoming a Certified Bookkeeper can increase
your earning potential, enhance your professional status, and give you a decisive
edge in any job market. This ONLINE program was created by the American
Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB) to prepare experienced bookkeepers
for the certification exam at any Prometric Test Center. The AIPB certification is the
only national standard for bookkeepers.
The Web-based format of this program will allow you to move at your own pace
while learning in the comfort of your own home. The program consists of six
separate subject areas:
· Adjusting entries
· Correction of accounting errors (including the bank reconciliation)
· Book and tax depreciation
· Basic payroll
· Merchandise inventory
· Internal controls and fraud prevention
This program includes a set of six workbooks that will help prepare you for each
of the exams. Students will have one year (365 days) from the date of enrollment
in the Certified Bookkeeper Online Training Program through ed2go to submit the
Application for Certified Bookkeeper Designation form to The American Institute of
Professional Bookkeepers. The cost of the exam is included with this program. 140
