Financial Aid
MCC participates in all federal and state financial aid programs available to public post secondary institutions. Students must complete
the 2015-2016 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than June 15, 2016 for summer course eligibility. In order to be
considered for most federal, state, and institutional financial aid, a student must:
· Be accepted to and enrolled in an eligible program of study
· Have a valid social security number
· Be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States or its trust territories
· Maintain at least half time enrollment status (except for the Federal Pell Grant awards)
· Maintain satisfactory academic progress (see SAP policy)
· Maintain compliance with selective service requirements
· Have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent
· Not be in default on any previous student loan or in repayment of an educational grant.
Financial aid awards are based on financial need, enrollment status, and availability of funding. Federal financial aid applications

New Financial Aid Info
Students who attended other colleges full-time during the 2015-2016 academic year may not have remaining eligibility for summer
financial aid at Middlesex Community College
Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress
To be eligible for federal student financial aid, students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards. All recipients of
all financial aid programs, including state funded programs, are subject to these standards financial aid eligibility. Permission to enroll
does not equal financial aid satisfactory academic progress.
Satisfactory academic progress evaluation is based on cumulative MCC course work as appearing on the student's official transcript
and will occur at the end of each academic year. Any classes taken during any summer session (within the same summer) are viewed
as one enrolled term. Only credit courses are considered for satisfactory academic progress evaluation.
The minimum standards of satisfactory academic progress are evaluated by the following criteria:
1. Grade point average (GPA): Students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average based on the total attempted credits
to remain in good standing.
Number of attempted credits
Minimum Grade Point Average
1-12
1.7
13-24
1.8
Above 24
2.0
2. Completion rate percentage: All students must successfully complete 66.6% of their attempted credits as appearing on their official
academic transcript.
3. Maximum timeframe requirement: The student must complete his or her educational program of study within a timeframe no longer
than 150% of the published length of the educational program, as measured by credits attempted and including transfer credits.
Additional information on satisfactory academic progress can be found on our website at www.middlesex.mass.edu/financialaid (click
on Academic Progress). A paper version of the policy is available in our Financial Aid Offices.
Financial Aid Withdrawal Policy
The calculation of how much financial aid a student is eligible to receive is determined by the date the student withdrew from Middlesex
Community College. Students earn financial aid each semester based upon the length of time they attend Middlesex Community
College. The percentage of aid earned is determined by dividing the number of days a student was enrolled by the number of days in
the semester. Information on our policy may be found on our website at www.middlesex.mass.edu/financialaid (click on Withdrawal
Policy). A paper version of this policy is available in our Financial Aid Offices.Cost of Attendance
Summer Financial Aid Eligibility
Students who were enrolled part time (less than 12 credits) during the fall 2015 and/or spring 2016 semesters may be eligible for Federal
Pell Grant funds for summer costs. You may use your Pell award this summer for less than half time enrollment, even for only one class,
in most circumstances.
Your eligibility for a Pell Grant for the summer of 2016 semester is subject to a number of requirements:
· Your Pell grant award will be determined based on your level of enrollment for the summer term.
· If you received a Pell Grant at another college this academic year, it will reduce your remaining Pell Grant eligibility.
· Your summer Pell Grant will be cancelled if you are currently not meeting satisfactory academic progress standards or after spring
grade review.
· In some cases your summer Pell Grant may not cover the full cost of tuition and fees.

Student Completion Rate
Students enter community colleges with a variety of academic, career and personal goals.
Many enroll at the college planning to complete a degree or certificate program. Others are more directly interested in improving their
basic academic skills, mastering specific job skills, preparing to transfer to a bachelor's degree granting institution or learning about
topics of personal interest. In addition, community college students often must balance a variety of competing responsibilities, such as
family, work and school, which make it difficult for many of them to enroll full time every semester.
In fall 2011, 1,340 new full time students enrolled at Middlesex Community College. Fourteen percent graduated in three years or less.
An additional twenty percent transferred to another institution.
