Hospitality and Culinary Arts
at MCC
Welcome to Hospitality and Culinary Arts
About Our Programs:
MCC offers five degree and certificate programs in hospitality and culinary arts.
We offer a 60 credit Associates of Science in Hospitality Management and in Culinary
Arts. We also offer 27 credit certificate programs in Hospitality Management, Culinary
Arts and Travel Management. These programs combine industry focused course work with
general business management courses.
Specialized hospitality courses include Food and Beverage Management, Hospitality Management, Travel Services Management and Convention and Event Planning. Courses are offered on both the Lowell and Bedford campuses, as well as online.
Culinary Arts courses are also held in Lowell, Bedford and online. Four specialized culinary classes are held in Lowell at 19 Warren Street. These specialized courses include Culinary Theory, Culinary Skills, Bakery and Pastry Skills and Sanitation / Serv Safe Training. Other courses in this program include Food and Beverage Management and Food and Beverage Revenue and Cost Control.
Both programs require an Internship course, which is a key component of the program, giving students real industry experience and a related course focused on career development and workplace issues.
About the Industry:
The hospitality industry is a growing and dynamic field. The MCC program prepares
students for careers in this industry that include: restaurant management, hotel management,
revenue management, sales, event and meeting planning, casino and cruise ship management,
as well as culinary positions such as sous chef and kitchen manager.
Many students complete their Associates degree and transfer to Bachelor's degree programs at schools such as Salem State, Southern NH University, Univeristy of NH, U Mass Lowell, U Mass Amherst, Johnson and Wales, Endicott College, and Boston University. Other students obtain employment in the industry while completing their coursework.
