Bridging Cultures – 1 Credit or Audit

This course is an exploration on variable topics of diverse cultural traditions and connections through interdisciplinary experiences in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. The course emphasizes the themes of international interdependence and globalization and their development over time. A key component of this course is cultural diversity, social inequality, and the connection of international and domestic issues. Through multiple methodologies and optional civic engagement opportunities, students will explore the intersections of cultures and communities, an experience that enhances their capacity to participate in a diverse, globally-interconnected society.

With lectures from experts, readings, group discussions, hand-on workshops, and optional civic engagement opportunities, students will explore the intersections of cultures and communities in America today, an experience that will enhance our capacity to participate in a diverse, globally-interconnected democracy.  There will also be a guided museum visit.  Friday dinner and Saturday lunch included.

This one credit course can fulfill a humanities, science, or social science requirement or count as a free elective toward graduation or full-time status. 

Prerequisites:  Eligibility for ENG 101 and MAT 080 or completion of Math Ramp UP Modules 1-8 or by permission of instructor
