IDS 105 Bedford Weekend: Africa

Explore Africa, its cultural traditions and connections, through

• Art • Literature • History • Philosophy • Food • Economics • Science • Music and Dance

With lectures from experts, readings, group discussions, hands-on workshops, and optional civic engagement opportunities, students will explore Africa through the intersections of cultures and communities today, an experience that enhances our capacity to participate in a diverse, globally-interconnected world. Included is a guided museum visit, Friday dinner, and Saturday lunch.

This one credit course can fulfill a humanities, science, or social science requirement or count as a free elective toward graduation or full-time status.

Prerequisites: Eligibility for ENG 101 and MAT 080 or completion of Math Ramp- UP Modules 1-8 or by permission of instructor

IDS Lowell Weekend: LGBT

With lectures from experts, readings, group discussions, workshops, and optional civic engagement opportunities in the subjects of humanities, social sciences, and science, students will explore global issues regarding LGBT through the intersections of cultures and communities today, an experience that enhances our capacity to participate in a diverse, globally-interconnected world. Included is a Friday field trip, Friday dinner, and Saturday lunch.

This one credit course can fulfill a humanities, science, or social science requirement or count as a free elective toward graduation or full-time status.
