Joe Patuto has played key roles
in a variety of campuswide
information-technology initiatives
since he came to Middlesex
in 1997 as Director of
Telecommunications.
Patuto helped develop MCC's
pioneering distance-education program (as
Director of Academic Technology). With
technology use growing across campus, he
built up the support network/Service Desk
(as Director of Technology Support). And
as Senior Academic Technology Officer,
he worked closely with the Provost's
Office to put the latest technology into
the hands of faculty.
Now, President James Mabry has
asked his new CTO to focus on yet
another high-tech challenge: using
technology to promote student success.
"Things have changed so much over the
years. Technology is everywhere now. We
call it B.Y.O.D. bring your own device,"
said Patuto, laughing. "Everybody students,
faculty and staff is bringing their own laptop,
tablet and smart phone to campus. We need to
support all these users with
more coaching and training."
