  • The Ray Shea Memorial Scholarship supports one Middlesex Community College student to participate in an international study experience – a short summer course abroad or a semester abroad - through MCC’s International Fellowship programs or other MCC approved study-abroad opportunities. The $750 award is usually used for airline tickets or visa-related expenses.

External Scholarships

  • The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants between $2,500-$5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad.  Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and must use the award to defray eligible study or intern abroad costs. These costs include program tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, insurance and international airfare. $8,000 scholarships are available for students studying specific languages. **APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR SUMMER 2019 STUDY ABROAD. • The Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship offers ten fellowships to exemplary students to cover 100% of program fees and travel costs for an intensive four-week summer study abroad program in London from July-August 2019, focused on leadership and intercultural skills. The fellowship is offered through a partnership between CIEE and Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions (PENN CMSI), in an effort to make study abroad accessible to students from Minority Serving Institutions (MSI).
  • The Fund For Education Abroad offers scholarships and support to students who are underrepresented among the U.S. study abroad population such as minorities, community college, and first-generation students. Scholarship amounts average around $1,250 for a short program, $5,000 for a semester abroad, and can go up to $10,000 for a full academic year. The 2019 application period for summer 2019 has closed.
