Years I and II (2005-2007)

College-wide Assessment Steering Committee
Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as avenue of communication for all college-wide assessment decisions
  • Provide on-going oversight of Assessment Plan
  • Give Charge to Committee on Institutional Learning Outcomes and Coordinating Committees
  • Review recommendations from the Committees and make formal recommendations to the college community
  • Recommend professional development activities for assessment

Year I (2005-2006)

Institutional Student Learning Outcome (SLO) Committee
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify Institutional SLOs
  • Identify Methods of Assessing Institutional SLOs

Coordinating Committees
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as forum to discuss assessment process
  • Review and revise Program Review templates
  • Develop college-wide program review cycles
  • Begin to develop divisional and area SLOs aligned with institutional SLOs

Year II (2006-2007)

Institutional SLO Committee
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop process for data collection, analysis, interpretation of ISLOs
  • Three year cycle of ISLO assessment begins (2 ISLOs/yr)
    • Yr. 1:
      • Faculty/staff ISLO subcommittees work with divisions to develop meaningful data collection process and criteria for assessment of two ISLOs
      • Data collected and random sample identified
      • Data analysis and interpretation
    • Yr. 2:
      • Data analysis and interpretation shared with college community to develop strategies for improving student learning
        • Divisions develop specific strategies to improve student learning
    • Yr. 3:
      • Divisions implement new strategies to improve student learning
    • Yr. 4:
      • Cycle repeats
