Program Description

Want to start or grow a venture now? This applied entrepreneurship certificate will help get you there over the next 4 - 12 months. If you are ready to ride your bicycle while building it, then this program is for you! Curriculum is designed for the student to actively work on their concept, while evaluating market opportunity, confirming product/market fit, and setting up systems and creating strategies to successfully launch or grow. Systems and strategies will include accounting, marketing, sales, operations, and financing. Students are expected to have a venture idea to work with on day one.

Career and Transfer Outlook

 

In preparing for the 21st century economy, it is strongly recommended that students learn entrepreneurial skills. If you want to start or grow a venture now, this applied entrepreneurship certificate will help get you there in 4 - 12 months.

Helpful hints:

It is suggested that BUS 211 and BUS 218 be taken at the same time; or BUS 211 before BUS 218.

Other Notes:

This program will provide students the channel to present to a funding committee part of the Everyday Entrepreneurs Venture Fund (EEVF) Program, a pilot set to run in the Fall of 2018. The EEVF program includes a grant (ranges from $1,000 - $20,000) used to start or grow their business. In exchange for a grant, students must commit to a year of mentoring from a team of mentors (representatives from the funding committee, a committee of the MCC Foundation. The funding committee will have guidelines for funding which will include cash positive projections in 6 - 12 months.

  • Measure, refine, and iterate entrepreneurial opportunities
  • Devise strategies and systems to grow ventures, including marketing, sales, accounting, financial, etc.
  • Formalize legal structures
  • Present venture in a persuasive and professional pitc
