Jean Trounstine

Jean Trounstine, professor of humanities, teaches acting, improvisation, writing and literature classes at MCC and directs the college's improvisational troupe, Matter of Fact. She is an author and activist who worked at Framingham Women's Prison for ten years where she directed eight plays with inmates, received awards for her work and has written extensively about women offenders. Her book, Shakespeare Behind Bars: The Power of Drama in a Women's Prison, St. Martin's Press, 2001, was featured on NPR and she co-edited Changing Lives Through Literature for Notre Dame Press, 1999. Her essays and poetry have appeared in many venues such as The Boston Globe Magazine, Southwest Review, Working Women Magazine and Sojourner.
