In partnership with UMass Lowell, the Pathways Center brings hands-on research workshops at UML that provides the "jumpstart" necessary to successfully move Health & STEM students towards 4-year degree programs.  Only MCC students who have successfully taken at least one science class can sign up for this program. Space is extremely limited and students are only allowed to register for ONE (out of three) workshops.

STEM Starter Academy Field Trip to Boston Consolidated TRACON
Tuesday, October 14th, 2014; 2-5PM

Join STEM Starter Academy to visit the Boston Consolidated TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control Facility). Tour the center, get to see the operations room, learn more about the different jobs at one of the six largest TRACONs in the U.S. Discover jobs & careers related to your academics studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics fields.

STEM Starter Academy Summer Bridge

Session I - July 28-August 8, 2014; Session II - August 11-22, 2014 from 9AM-1PM, daily

The Summer Bridge is an introduction & preparation program for new or first-year MCC students interested in majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) & Health disciplines for successful completion of certificates/degrees in these fields. This Health & STEM Pathways Center Summer Bridge is a free two-week program to explore Health and STEM lab skills, develop insight on issues surrounding a “wicked problem”, develop course success skills and also insight into successful career outcomes.

STEM Starter Academy Math Boot Camp

Monday, July 14, 2014 - Thursday, August 7th (Mondays-Thursdays) from 12-3:45pm on Lowell Campus

Get Ready for College-level Math: The STEM Starter Academy Math Boot Camp is a FREE, intensive four-week class that provides students the opportunity to develop fundamental mathematic skills necessary to be successful in STEM programs at the college level.

If you are a graduating high school senior or an incoming/current MCC student (with 0-24 MCC credits), this Math Boot Camp will help you prepare for college courses in STEM, free of charge!

Program Highlights:

  • Prepare for the Accuplacer placement test
  • Save time and money by accelerating preparation for college-level math
  • Work with a Middlesex Community College faculty
  • Get support from faculty, peer tutors, and the Health & STEM Pathways Center staff
  • Kickstart your STEM career path

 

Spring 2014 STEM Educator Institute

Wednesday, May 28; Monday, June 9; Wednesday; June 11 from 3:30-5:30PM at MCC Bedford Campus

High school & college STEM faculty were invited to participate in this Institute to explore alignment of STEM curriculum and expectations for student learning.

"Resume Preparation" & "How to Work a Career Fair" - In the weeks before the Career Fair, the Pathways Center offered workshops that helped prepare students for the event. The workshops took place at both campuses on multiple dates. Look for future Career Fair Preparation Workshops and Resume Critique Sessions that suits your schedule and prepare you for future Career Fairs.

UMASS Lowell Winter Break Bridge Program - January 6-10, 2014.
