STEM Starter Academy Summer Bridge program is an introduction & preparation program for new or first-year MCC students interested in majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) & Health disciplines for successful completion of certificates/degrees in these fields. This Health & STEM Pathways Center Summer Bridge is a free two-week program to explore Health and STEM lab skills, develop insight on issues surrounding a “wicked problem”, develop course success skills and also insight into successful career outcomes. Summer Bridge scholars develop connections and a stronger sense of belonging to MCC through community building activities, peer mentoring programs, and proactive advising with the Pathways Center staff that continue beyond the summer and throughout their academic career at MCC.
STEM Starter Academy Math Booster program is free and intensive four-week workshop that provides students the opportunity to development fundamental mathematical skills necessary to be successful in STEM/Health programs at the college level. The Math Booster prepares students for the Accuplacer placement test, saves students time and money by accelerating preparation for college-level math, give additional academic support through MCC faculty, peer tutors, and the Pathways Center staff.
UMass Lowell Workshops are unique opportunities for more seasoned students studying STEM & Health who are interested in advancing to a 4-year institution. The UML Workshops participants spent one-week at UML, using UML classrooms and laboratories, being taught by UML professors, working with UML undergraduate student assistants in hands-on research workshops in the fields of BIOTECHNOLOGY, CLINICAL LAB SCIENCE, COMPUTER SCIENCE, Environmental Science, and Physics. UML Workshops typically occur over the Winter Break (January).
STEM Starter Academy Brain Food Sessions are various academic and career workshops that supports students in their development. Brain Food sessions are your chance to learn new skills that will help you become a more successful student and professional. These sessions happen throughout the academic year and is also a great opportunity to meet new people, make connections and fuel your brain with delicious food brought to you completely free by the STEM Starter Academy.
