James C. and Judith G. Mabry Completion Scholarship

The James C. and Judith G. Mabry Completion Scholarship is designed to assist a student who has successfully completed a significant portion of their degree coursework but is struggling financially. The student should be on the path to an associate degree at MCC and have a plan to use the scholarship to finish more quickly. The scholarship is for an award up to $7,000 to be used to accelerate degree completion and may be used to cover tuition, fees, books, materials, and other eligible costs as approved by Middlesex Community College.

The James C. and Judith G. Mabry Completion Scholarship will be presented at the MCC Spring Fundraiser, Scared Scriptless, on May 29, 2020.

Applications are being accepted for this scholarship by faculty nomination. The criteria for the award is listed below. Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an Associate Degree Program
  • Have completed 24 or more credits with minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Be seeking to complete an Associate degree in the coming academic year
  • Be seeking to attend full time in the coming academic year
  • Express intentions to transfer to complete BA/BS degree
  • Must have demonstrated financial need

To nominate a student, please follow the steps below. The deadline for application submission which includes the letter of recommendation and the student essay is Monday, April 6th.

  1. Please complete the online form below.

  2. Please email a letter of recommendation and a student essay to Amy Lee, Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations (leea@middlesex.mass.edu):

    1. Recommendation letter - (no more than 500 words) attesting to the capability and determination of the student to complete an associate degree and go on to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
    2. Student Essay - Faculty/staff who nominate student(s) accept the responsibility of mentoring the student(s) through the application process, which will include a student essay. The student essay should be no more than 500 words explaining how this scholarship will make a significant difference in the time needed to complete an associate degree at MCC and transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree.

  3. The recipient of the award should be available to attend the MCC Spring Fundraiser, Scared Scriptless, on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium to receive the award.
