Name: Richard Gaudet
Major Program of Study:
Nursing
Why Middlesex?
I chose Middlesex because it was affordable, and the Admissions Office staff members
were so friendly and helpful. They made the process of getting the college experience
started much easier.
Why nursing?
I currently work as a respiratory therapist, a field I regret leaving. However, I
want to be a nurse to use the skills I already have in combination with the new skills
I am learning at Middlesex to better serve my clients.
Favorite MCC class:I really enjoyed Nursing Professor Marie Ryder’s lectures on psychoeducation. She is a dynamic teacher and thoroughly enjoys what she does. There is a need for good, caring nurses in this area, since many individuals suffer from psychological illness.
Favorite MCC moment:
The clinical experiences in the Nursing Program have been very challenging. The instructors
have high expectations and push you to achieve. The level of performance a student
must maintain is intense.
Future plans?
I plan to continue to work at Lawrence General Hospital in my new role as a nurse.
Nursing can lead in many directions: higher-level education, specialization, management,
and most importantly, a skill set that is marketable and personally fulfilling.
