CC Celebrity Forum will
feature Michael J. Fox, actor,
author and activist, at 8 p.m.
Friday, June 15, in the Lowell
Memorial Auditorium.
Like many other young Canadians,
Michael J. Fox hoped to play professional
hockey someday. Fortunately for us, in his
early teens he discovered his talent to
entertain others. Success in a few key roles
on Canadian television and local theater
led him to leave school, move to Los
Angeles when he was 18, and pursue an
acting career in Hollywood.
By the time he was 20, he had landed the
role of Alex Keaton on the ever-popular,
award-winning weekly sitcom, Family Ties.
Since then, he has become an
international film star with roles in movies
such as Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, Doc
Hollywood, The Secret of My Success
and
The American President.
In 1996, he returned to television to
portray New York Deputy Mayor Michael
Flaherty in ABC's Spin City for 100
episodes. Presently, he can be seen in
several episodes of the popular CBS drama
The Good Wife.
Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in
1991, Fox has managed to navigate an
amazing, diverse career, while focusing his
energy on fundraising for the Michael J.
Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
He remains committed to making his
future the best it can be while staying
focused on his real "family ties" to his
wife of more than 20 years, actress Tracy
Pollan, and their four children.
