alumni profile “ I’m really blessed to have been able to go to Middlesex. The teachers really care about the programs, and their students’ school and career paths.” – Jasmine Lo 2015 Middlesex graduate and 2017 Suffolk University graduate At Suffolk, Lo went on to volunteer at the Massachusetts Paralegal Association, helping with their events. She knew that volunteering would force her to talk to people and not be so reserved or shy about networking. It paid off. She ended up chatting with a paralegal who worked for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (SJC), who then introduced her to SJC Clerk Francis Kenneally. Lo snagged an SJC internship and, later, an internship in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Today, Lo remains a member of MCC’s Paralegal Advisory Board, giving a voice to students. What’s next? Jasmine Lo was awarded a 2015 MCC Foundation student scholarship by Middlesex President James C. Mabry. “Right now, I really love my job and I’m learning a lot of new things,” she said. “Intellectual-property law involves a lot of science, so I’m just focused on that.” Building upon her experiences and having learned not to take any opportunity for granted, Lo said she does not want to start looking ahead and not fully experience what she is doing in the moment. “I am well prepared, thanks to the foundation I built at Middlesex, to be able to meet the job responsibilities given to me and do them well,” she said. “I am grateful for that.” — Jennifer Myers Profiles | 17
