Message from the President
Thinking Big About Entrepreneurship
At Middlesex Community College, entrepreneurship is alive
and well ≠ and thriving!
As an institution, we like to face challenges with an entrepreneurial
attitude: We think outside the box, bring new ideas to the table, and
explore innovative ways to make them happen.
Our new "eMCC: Success from the Start" program will use technology, integrated-data systems,
and predictive analytics to focus on improving student success. Supported by a $2.2 million
federal grant, this innovative initiative will help keep our students on campus through the
successful completion of a degree ≠ and position them for an educated entry into the workforce.
Our talented faculty members are teaching students to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset in
the classroom. And our many partners, like Entrepreneurship for All, Lowell's small-business
accelerator program, are leading the way in the community.
In this "entrepreneurship" issue of Profiles, we celebrate professors Stacie Hargis and
John Femia, who teach Business students to not only dream big, but also how to make those
dreams come alive.
Chief Technology Officer Joe Patuto is actively engaged in making the latest mobile
technologies available in our classrooms. And students and alums Marlena Chau, Matt Holm,
Sophir Jeune, Angela Mastrogiacomo, Rachel Walker and Lauren Zanotta are blazing new trails
in entrepreneurship.
It's a brave, new entrepreneurial world out there. We're preparing our students to face
it and find success.
All the best,
Dr. James C. Mabry
