In Memoriam
Class of 1975
Alan Melkonian,
58, of Stoneham,
died in June after a
long battle with ALS.
He graduated from
Middlesex with an
associate degree in
Retail Management, and was named
MCC's Distinguished Alumni Award
winner in 2004.
Melkonian was the president of
Stoneham Ford for 36 years, and
recognized as a contributor to his
community through support to
organizations like the Stoneham
Zoo and Stoneham Theater.
Class of 1977
Michael Herlihy has published a novel, "The
Shelf Life of Joy," available through Amazon.
It is set in a small Boston suburban middle
school near the end of the Vietnam War.
Class of 1983
Tami M.
Dristiliaris, Esq. has been
appointed to the Middlesex Community
College Board of Trustees. She is a graduate
of MCC's Nursing Program and is an adjunct
Nursing faculty member. Dristiliaris earned
a bachelor's degree from Atlantic Union
College and a JD from Suffolk University.
Employed as a Registered Nurse at Lowell
General Hospital for 20 years, she is also an
attorney with a private practice focused on
family, personal injury, and mental-health
issues. Dristiliaris was named MCC's
Distinguished Alumna in 2010.
Valerie S. Forsyth graduated from UMass
Amherst and received a BBA in marketing.
She works for TRIO at York County
Community College, is married and has
a 19-year-old son.
Class of 1993
Christine A. Griffin recently wrote and
published a book on surviving a painful
divorce, titled "Divorce: So What, Now
What?" She is a relationship coach and
an assessor for the town of Hudson.
Class of 1999
Mark Armstrong is a lieutenant in the
Dracut Fire Department and has been named
Department Chair of MCC's Fire Protection
& Safety Technology Program. He graduated
from the UMass Lowell with a BA in English
in 1993. He received his JD from Western
New England School of Law.

Class of 2000
John S. Williams has published a book of
poetry, titled "Controlled Hallucinations."
Class of 2004
Kim Zunino just celebrated her ninth
anniversary working for the City of Lowell's
Historic Board. She was named MCC's
Distinguished Alumni Award winner in 2011.
Class of 2005
Linda A. Monroe graduated from UMass
Lowell with a 4.0, earning a bachelor's degree
in psychology with a minor in English. She
is in her seventh year of teaching English in
Dracut. Monroe is also pursuing a master's
degree in education, curriculum design &
instruction at Fitchburg State University.
Class of 2012
Fiona J. Almeida was selected as a 2014
Albright Fellow at Wellesley College.
Rebecca N. Fleming transferred to
Northeastern University and started a
co-op at Ropes & Gray in July.
Douglas Oliveira is pursuing a
bachelor's degree at Suffolk University.
Class of 2013
Kelley DeCola is attending Merrimack
College to pursue a degree in Elementary
Education and Moderate Disabilities.
Dental Hygiene Alumni Networking Reception Boston was the host city for the American
Dental Hygienist's Association 2013 annual conference, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of
dental hygiene as a profession. As part of the celebrations, Dental Hygiene alums gathered for a
reception, made possible by an MCC Foundation Annual Fund grant. Current faculty and administra-
tors, as well as approximately 50 Dental Hygiene grads from the 1970s through 2012, attended.
