iddlesex Community College
has taken to the airwaves with
its own monthly cable
television show, MCC
Connects. In partnership with Lowell
Telecommunications Corp. (LTC) and cable
television partners in neighboring
communities, the half-hour show highlights
MCC people, programs and partnerships.
Produced through MCC's Office of Public

partners on board to make better use of the
new facilities and better utilize the studios
for community outreach."
After a series of meetings with staff at LTC,
the structure of MCC Connects was
developed, with an eye toward a monthly
show, with repeated broadcasts.
Central to the MCC-LTC partnership is the
agreement that students produce the show
behind the cameras and in the studio,
taking care of the sound, editing, camera
work, make-up and the hundreds of other
details that go into producing a cable TV
"This program would not work without the
hands-on participation of our students," said
Griffin, who is starting to settle into her role
as a cable TV talk-show host. With an
advisory board consisting of faculty and
administrators to help steer programming,
Griffin hopes to involve as many students as
possible in the production of the show.
"There's no shortage of work or learning
opportunities for students," said Griffin. "It's

that will provide them with professional
