KB407: Get Alerted on Your Email when a Class is Cancelled


When a faculty member cancels a class or the college is closed due to inclement weather or other emergency, a message is posted to the School Closing and Class Cancellation web site located in the Quick Links area on the My MCC web portal (https://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu).

Students, Faculty and Staff may choose to be alerted via e-mail automatically when cancellation messages are posted.

Note: Alerts may be generated for any class and may not be for your class. Please note that you should read the alerts very carefully to determine if it is your Professor's class that has been cancelled.

Create an E-mail Alert:

  1. Go to https://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu
  2. Under the "Quick Links" area on My MCC, click "Class Cancellations"
  3. Click the "Alert me about..." link under on the left side of the screen.
  4. Enter your MCC login information when prompted. (If you do not know or have forgotten your username and/or password, you can look it up at https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/getmymcc.)

Note that the setting for "Send alerts to..." is your MCC e-mail address.  If you prefer that the alert be sent to another e-mail address follow the instructions in this article "Change Your Email Address" to enter a different e-mail address after you have created your alert.

  1. Under "Change Type.." select "All Changes".
  2. Under "Send Alerts for These Changes", select "Anything changes"
  3. Under "When to Send Alerts" select "Send e-mail immediately"
  4. Click OK to save changes.

Change Your Email Address for Alerts

  1. Go to https://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu
  2. Under the "Quick Links" area on My MCC, click "Class Cancellations"
  3. Click the "Alert me about..." link under on the left side of the screen.
  4. Enter your MCC login information when prompted.
  5. Click the dropdown arrow on the "Welcome Your Name" located on the top right of the screen and click My Settings. See image below:

  1. Click "Edit Item". Delete the e-mail address in the E-Mail field and type in another e-mail address.
  2. Click OK to save changes.

 

To Delete an Alert:

Method 1:

  1. Open an alert message that you have previously received.
  2. Click the My Alerts link located at the bottom of the message that reads:

    "
    You can change this alert or any of your other alerts on the My Alerts on this Site page."
     
  3. Enter your MCC login information when prompted.

    To Delete:
    Click the checkbox next to the alert.
    Click "Delete Selected Alerts"

Method 2:

  1. Go to https://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu
  2. Under the "Quick Links" area click "Class Cancellations"
  3. Click the "Alert me about..." link under the on the left side of the screen.
  4. Enter your MCC login information when prompted.
  5. Click "View my existing alerts on this site." .
  6. Click the checkbox next to the alert.
  7. Click "Delete Selected Alerts"
