KB246: Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition Install/Uninstall Errors

  1. Error Condition:
    Previous version of Norton AntiVirus is not uninstalled when installing the current version of Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7

    Situation:
    You roll out Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition (NAVCE) 7.x over an earlier version of Norton AntiVirus. After the installation completes, you see evidence that the previous version was not uninstalled. For example, Auto-Protect is trying to load at startup with subsequent error messages, or you still see the old program group on your Windows Start menu.

  2. Error Condition:
    "25002 Failed to load Navinsnt.dll" appears when installing or uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0

    Situation:
    You are installing or uninstalling the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0 (Symantec AV) client. After selecting the default directory and clicking Next, you see the error message "25002 Failed to load navinsnt.dll." When you click OK, you see a message indicating that the installer is removing changes and the progress bar moves to the left.
