50 Faces of MCC
As Middlesex Community College celebrates 50 years, the college wants to commemorate the thousands of alumni, employees and speakers MCC has welcomed over the past five decades. Here are just a few of the many wonderful faces of Middlesex!Faculty & Staff

Ray Shea – Professor Ray Shea was an MCC faculty member on Opening Day in 1970. For 42 years, he taught American and Irish Literature, and he was an advocate for students to study and travel abroad.

Suzanne McHale – The current Program Coordinator and Professor of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program, Suzanne McHale started at MCC in 2010. Most recently, McHale organized a donation from MCC Health Programs of excess PPE to Lowell General Hospital during the pandemic.

Binnur Ercem – MCC Professor of Sociology and Cultural Anthropology Binnur Ercem is now the Director
of MCC’s Commonwealth Honors Program.
Alumni


Martha Forero – A former dentist from Columbia, Martha Forero enrolled in MCC’s Dental Hygiene Program after moving to the U.S. She graduated in 2007 and works as a dental hygienist, outreach programs coordinator, and oral health educator who travels across the state.

Steven Iem – A 2007 MCC graduate from Lowell, Steven Iem has served on the MCC Board of Trustees since 2015. He graduated with an associate in Business Administration and transferred to Bentley University to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Fatima Al-Muntafik – Fatima Al-Muntafik started at MCC in 2015 with the Prepare to Attend College course for students who are new to the U.S. She has two bachelor’s degrees in Iraq and came to MCC as an adult student to build herself up again. Her goal was to earn a master’s degree in religious studies.
Notable Speakers

Ted Kennedy – The former Mass. senator Ted Kennedy spoke to MCC students in 1991.

Robin Roberts – American television broadcaster Robin Roberts visited Middlesex as part of the college’s Celebrity Forum in 2011.

Michael J. Fox – Michael J. Fox is an actor, comedian, author, film producer and activist who spoke to MCC as the 2012 Celebrity Forum.
