WAC Writing Contest

                  The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Committee sponsors writing contests every year.  

 

Announcing . . .

 

The Winner of the Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 WAC Student Writing Contest and recipient of the $100 prize is ...        

 

Valerie Joncas for her essay entitled “Atticus Finch: A Timeless Parenting Model in a Work of Fiction" (click here to read)written originally for Prof. McCarron’s English Composition 2: An Introduction to Literature – Honors Option.  

 

For the 2008-2009 contest, the essay topic was not a fixed one.  Instead, students submitted essays and papers written in response to an assignment in a Fall 2008 or Spring 2009 semester course or program at MCC.  (Copy of F08-Sp09 contest application)  

 

Honorable Mention (with a $50 prize) was also awarded to

Chance Joyner for his non-fiction story entitled “Cause for Alarm” (click here to read), 
written originally for Prof. Marchionda’s Crime and Punishment in Literature.
