Keynote Speaker:

One of the highlights of the Institute was the keynote address by Pat Hutchings, Vice President of The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. With Lee Shulman, she oversees all Foundation programs and provides guidance to Foundation research initiatives.  Hutchings has written widely on the investigation and documentation of teaching and learning in colleges and universities, especially on teaching and course portfolios and on peer collaboration and review of teaching. She is a national leader on the scholarship of teaching and learning and the author with Mary Huber of The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Building the Pedagogical Commons.  It will be published by Jossey-Bass.

Pre-Institute Workshop:

A pre-conference workshop for Academic Leaders led by Pat Hutchings and Middlesex Community College, Provost and Vice-President of Academic and Student Affairs, Mary-Jane McCarthy was offered at the Second Annual Summer Institute.
