COPPER Cluster
Action Plan Products

The COPPER cluster has identified three major domains for our work in establishing communities of practice (COP) to foster the scholarship of teaching and learning: Service Learning (LC), Learning Communities (LC), and Assessment. These domains will serve as new ways to configure collaborations across institutions. COPPER Directories, the Blog, COPPER story, and the Middlesex Summer Institute will serve as our primary products.
COPPER Directory
These will be listings of faculty and their interests. The purpose of the directory is to identify other faculty resources. The material will be online and searchable in a variety of ways. The directory will serve the basis for “matchmaking” of faculty from across different institutions for the purpose of creating partnerships and possible joint projects.
The Weblog
We will also post information regarding best practices, links to conferences, and other resources to the blog. This component will help us create a critical mass of faculty to engage in communities of practice around each of the three domains. Different institutions will host the Weblog for a week. In addition, the Wisconsin system cluster is interested in participating in the blog during the year; some of the Wisconsin institutions will host the blog for a week.
COPPER Story
Each cluster member will reflect upon his/her experiences at the Summer Academy and as a member of the COPPER group. These reflections will form the basis for a case document at the Summer Institute and for possible future publications.
The Middlesex Summer Institute
A leadership workshop will be offered for chief academic officers from each institution to acknowledge our sponsors and deepen their involvement in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
