Commercial Design
Commercial and industrial designers usually work closely with a range of specialists including engineers, marketing staff, cost estimators, insurance companies, owners and accountants. About 30 percent of commercial designers are self-employed; many designers work for firms making this a perfect field for career changers. This course provides an excellent foundation in the field. Topics include: client relationships, MA building codes, insurance requirements, basic understanding of timelines in construction projects, drafting, textiles, lighting, historical restoration and feng shui. The book Interior Design by John Pile, Fourth Edition is required and available at the MCC bookstore. In addition, there will be outside work related to classroom material and two off-site field trips. (33 hours) $499

Interior Design Certificate
Gain the knowledge and skills you need to enter into this growing industry. Learn decorating and design tips from professionals in the field. Participate in off-site trips and complete projects. Whether you are redesigning your own home or interested in working in the interior design field, this certificate provides you with a solid foundation. Topics covered include interior design elements, lighting, texture, color, pattern, furniture selection, window coverings, scale and space planning; a history of design; textiles; and marketing. The book Interior Design by John Pile, Fourth Edition is required and available at the MCC bookstore. This course combines a one night per week lecture on-campus with an additional three Saturday mornings of off-site real-world experience. In addition, there may be projects requiring work outside of class. (35 hours) $599

Feng Shui is the proven art and science of creating a space that brings positive energy into areas of your life that you want to improve. Mixed Flower Vase Arrangement
This course will allow you to learn the basic techniques of flower arranging using fresh mixed flowers in an everyday vase. You will gain confidence and knowledge in creating your own flower arrangements at home with fresh cut flowers from your garden, or a bouquet from the supermarket. Christmas Boxwood Tree
Create a Fresh Christmas Boxwood Tree for the holiday season. Making a fresh cut Boxwood Tree is easy and looks gorgeous with all the holiday trimmings added. This arrangement can stay fresh for a month or more, due to the floral foam used. A fee of $20 is payable to the instructor to cover the materials.
