Commercial Design
Commercial and industrial designers usually work closely with a range of specialists including engineers, marketing staff, cost estimators, insurance companies, owners and accountants. About 30 percent of commercial designers are self-employed; many designers work for firms making this a perfect field for career changers. This course provides an excellent foundation in the field. Topics include: client relationships, MA building codes, insurance requirements, basic understanding of timelines in construction projects, drafting, textiles, lighting, historical restoration and feng shui. The book Interior Design by John Pile, Fourth Edition is required and available at the MCC bookstore.
