This multi-disciplinary seminar explores the timely cultural complexities of South Asia, with special attention to the globally strategic areas of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, and will focus primarily on the social, political, and economic roles these countries play in their region and throughout the world.

Participants in this event will include college and university faculty, staff, administrators, students primarily from social sciences, humanities, and business departments. Participants with other specialties or interests are also welcome.

PRESENTERS
Zia Mian is the Director of the Project on Peace and Security in South Asia at the Program on Science and Global Security at Princeton University. His research interests include nuclear weapons and nuclear energy policy in South Asia and issues of nuclear disarmament and peace.

Tarun Khanna is the Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor at Harvard Business School and faculty chair for HBS activities in India. His current book Billions of Entrepreneurs: How China and India are Reshaping Their Futures and Yours focuses on the drivers of entrepreneurship in China and India.

Sankaran Krishna is Professor of Political Science at the Public Policy Center at the University of Hawai’i, Manoa. His research centers on nationalism, ethnic identity and conflict, identity politics, and postcolonial studies, located primarily around India and Sri Lanka.
