Plan B: Using Blackboard to Prepare for a Flu Emergency

Do you have a backup plan in case you were ill and unable to conduct classes for an extended period?  Do you have an alternative method for your students to receive course information and lecture materials in the event they miss classes due to illness?  One of the tools that you can use to support your classes in these situations is Blackboard.  The Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) is a college-wide tool that offers instructors the option to interact with their students outside of the face-to-face classroom.

All courses at the college are provided with a Blackboard course site before the start of each semester.  Your course site can be accessed through:

https://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu

You will need a username and a password in order to log into the MCC Portal as well as the Blackboard course site.  If you do not know that information or it does not seem to be working the following instructions will allow you to set it up:

General Information page

Once you have logged into the MCC portal you will see the General Information page with a list of the courses on the right hand side of the page under the heading "My Blackboard Courses".  If you do not have a course site set up you may not immediately see a link for your site for the current semester.  Go to the bottom of the list and locate the subheading "Unavailable Courses" put your cursor over that heading and you will get another list of courses.  When you locate the one you want to work on click and you will need to type in the username and password one more time.
