What is the Links Program?
Links is a new day program at Middlesex Community College, designed for adults who want to begin college with the academic support that will lead to success.  Students receive an individual assessment of skills, academic guidance and assistance with career planning.

What courses will I take?
--FRESHMAN SEMINAR FOR ADULT LEARNERS
This 1-credit course prepares students for college by focusing on motivation, time management, organizational and study skills, and college programs and services.

--CAREER DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR
This seminar provides an in-depth evaluation of interests, skills, and career opportunities.

--EXPLORATIONS IN SCIENCE
This 3-credit introductory hands-on science course introduces students to a range of topics in the fields of biology, chemistry and environmental sciences and includes discussion of the scientific principles behind headline issues such as global warming.

--ALGEBRA I, BASIC WRITING, OR BOTH
Course selection is based on the student's placement test.

In addition, students will meet weekly in study groups and have on-going contact with the Links Coordinator during the semester.

Who can apply?
Applicants who are Massachusetts residents with a high school diploma or GED are eligible.  Applicants must place into Algebra I and/or Basic Writing when taking the College Placement Test.  85% of new enrollees must come from Department of Elementary & Secondary Education/Adult Basic Education Programs.

What does it cost?
The Links Program is FREE to students and is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.

When do classes begin?
Classes begin in September and January.  Classes meet in daytime, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
