Blackboard

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is a piece of software that allows the college to organize information. Some faculty use the course management system to teach students in hybrid, online and face to face classes.  There is a space set aside for each class in the Blackboard portal.  Content for the class is developed and provided by the instructor. The library uses Blackboard to provide access to the library catalog, documentation, and library resources. You must use your college id and password to access Blackboard.

How do I login to Blackboard?

The college has assigned an A# and password to every student who registers for classes. It is this A# which is your student ID and will be used to login to Blackboard. The number is printed on your class schedule and should be entered into the username field at  http://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu.   The password should have been mailed to you in a separate letter if you do not know of can not find your password by following the procedure below.  Additionally access to Blackboard can be found at http://blackboard.middlesex.mass.edu

I can't remember my password, what should I do?

If you don’t have your username and password for Blackboard

How do I embed links to RSS feeds, journal articles and other library content into my Blackboard Course?

The library staff have developed a Blackboard course to showcase the possibilities of embedding library content into your Blackboard course shell. We will work with you to embed links to magazine and journal articles, searches, websites, and licensed digital films.  Contact Laura Horgan to make an appointment to discuss your needs or be added to the Library2Go course in Blackboard.

I don't teach an online course but I'd really like to link to some of the library information; can I get some basic blackboard information?

If you are not familiar with Blackboard, check out this short introduction for faculty.

Blackboard does not seem to be loading what should I do?

If you are having problems getting into Blackboard through the Middlesex portal at Mymcc try connecting to http://blackboard.middlesex.mass.edu instead.

Why do I need to login multiple times to see my online courses.?

If you will be editing or trying to retrieve information from multiple courses you might want to use the alternate Blackboard url http://blackboard.middlesex.mass.edu  When you enter Blackboard in this way you will not have to login multiple times but you will also not have access to the important information provided in the MCC tabs including class descriptions, the college directory and libarry information and tools provided through http://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu .  It might be best to create a short cut or favorite for Blackboard (http://blackboard.middlesex.mass.edu) and the college portal http://mymcc.middlesex.mass.edu to guarantee access to the entire MCC web site.
