Does the library have a space for me to bring my class?

The library has an electronic classroom for staff use in Bedford and Lowell.  Each classroom contains between 12-16 student computers, a teacher workstation, projector and screen.  Please contact Allyson O'Brien at the Lowell Campus or Ellen Royalty at the Bedford Campus if you would like to schedule library instruction or use the room with your class or group.

How do I request a library orientation for my class?

Library orientation sessions are scheduled throughout the semester at the Bedford and Lowell Campus Libraries. Orientation sessions work best when paired with a specific assignment. When a request is received via email or voice mail, a librarian will return your call to confirm your specific needs.

How do I place class materials on reserve?

The library requires instructors to fill out a form, with titles, class numbers, and a description.  Reserve materials are normally restricted to library use only or Overnight.  Please let the staff know how long your materials should circulate. Personal materials must be presented with the form. Please let us know if you would like a form emailed to you.  For additional information, please see the Reserves Help Page.

How do I reserve a specific film for a specific day?

To ensure that videos are available, submit a list of the titles along with the dates needed to the circulation desk staff at either campus.  Please give us ample time to fulfill your requests.   Please contact either the  Bedford Circulation desk   x3708  or    Lowell Circulation desk      x3004

Library2Go, a Blackboard course has been established to demonstrate some of the possibilities.  Please contact Laura Horgan for additional information or to be enrolled.

  • What is an embedded librarian?

A librarian can be enrolled in your Blackboard course to answer research questions, help with technical issues in accessing the library databases, and to help students with creating source citations. For additional information about this service, please contact Ellen Royalty, Public Services Coordinator, Bedford Campus.

  • How can I utilize the ask a librarian feature?

Reference assistance via e-mail is available to answer your questions. In addition, the library subscribes to Mass Answers a chat reference service for weekends and after hours. You can ask the librarian questions about our databases, quick facts, library resources, policies or services.  If you would like a larger presents in your course , consider the embedded librarian service discussed above.

  • How I use the plagiarism software with my students?

Faculty can selectively check assignments, but it is not always apparent when plagiarism occurs. Creating a SafeAssignment and checking all submitted student work is a more comprehensive, time-saving approach in the long run. If not already available in electronic form, the paper would need to be individually scanned.  SafeAssignments are created by the faculty member before students can submit their work for review.  Middlesex Interactive and library staff can assist you with training. Handouts for faculty and students use are available.
