POSITION:                            

Nursing Faculty/Coordinator of Part-Time Nursing Program

 

The Nursing Faculty is a creative and knowledgeable individual who provides classroom instruction for assigned courses in the Nursing program that serves a diverse student body and community. This faculty position includes program coordination for the Nursing department's part time program option which runs on nights and weekends.  The faculty is committed to inclusive excellence and diversity, and continuous professional improvement.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 

Reports to the Assistant Dean for Nursing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Faculty Role:

·         Provide classroom instruction for sessions which last up to three hours.  This normally requires preparation of materials, standing, conducting lecture/discussion, for a group of up to 36 students, using a variety of instructional materials and technologies.  Didactic instruction also includes exam preparation, proctoring, correcting, grading and posting of exam grades.

·         Receive 2 courses of reassigned time per semester to coordinate the part-time nursing program option.

·         Post and conduct office hours in his/her office space as required by Article XII of the MCCC Agreement.

·         Attend department, division and college meetings.

·         Participate in college service as required by Article XII of the MCCC Agreement.

·         Meet with assigned advisees at least once per semester for the purpose of course and program advisement.

·         Maintain currency in nursing and nursing education through participation in continuing education.

·         Implement all nursing program policies as well as applicable college policies.

·         Plan, implement and evaluate the program of learning in compliance with appropriate regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.

 

Coordinator Role:

  • Assist the Assistant Division Dean for Nursing  in  providing  academic leadership and administrative direction for faculty and students in the part-time nursing program option
  • Schedule and chair program and team meetings for the part-time nursing program option
  • Collaborate with course coordinators to organize, develop and schedule student experiences in the part-time program option.
  • Coordinate student advising for students in the part-time program option
  • Provide assistance to the Assistant Division Dean for Nursing by contributing expertise in the evaluation of adjunct faculty and their course materials.
  • Collaborate with the course coordinators to recruit, schedule, orient, and mentor part-time program option adjunct faculty
  • Collaborate with student support areas, e.g. Tutoring, Enrollment, Testing,  Advising, and other departments as needed
  • Plan and conduct program orientation for PT program option with faculty assistance
  • Evaluate clinical agencies with respect to appropriateness of placement of students in the part time program option
  • Serve as liaison for  external agencies
  • Participate in annual advisory board meetings

 

Coordinator Role continued:

  • Assist the Assistant Division Dean for Nursing  in  maintaining compliance with all accreditation and Board of Registration in Nursing regulatory requirements governing operation of the nursing education program
  • Participate in college recruitment activities, i.e. open houses, K-12 partnerships, visit high schools, and industry as appropriate
  • Other duties within the program/department as needed or assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing, Master’s Degree in Nursing.  Minimum of two years full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years at date of hire.  Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with colleagues in a collaborative relationship. Willingness to work well with and sensitivity to students, faculty and staff of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities; and an understanding and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education. Willingness to investigate and provide alternative instructional methodologies and assessment strategies.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

College level teaching experience in nursing with AD level teaching experience preferred.  Demonstrated strong organizational skills.  Demonstrated ability to provide a variety of alternative instructional methodologies and assessment strategies.  Demonstrated ability to work well with and sensitivity to students, faculty and staff of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.  Openness to Web-based curriculum development. 

  

STARTING DATE:    

Fall Semester, September 2009

 

SALARY:                    

Salary range is $38,464 - $92,555.  Starting salary is dependent on education, experience and the provisions of the

MCCC Agreement, but is not expected to exceed $55,000.
