Middlesex Community College invites applicants for part-time, adjunct faculty positions to teach day, evening and weekend courses. The College is committed to hiring creative and knowledgeable individuals that have expertise in their discipline, usually demonstrated by a master’s degree, have worked professionally in the field and/or taught (preferably) at the college level. The Computer, Software and Networking Technology Department is looking for adjunct faculty to teach courses during the day on the Bedford Campus.
Two sections of Principles of Electric Circuits (NST 101) are being offered. Section 1 is 10 AM to 12:20PM on Monday and Wednesday. Section 2 is 7:30 AM to 9:50AM on Wednesday and 10 AM to 12:20PM on Friday.
Applied Technical Mathematics for Computers and Networking I (TMA 075) is offered on Mondays and Fridays from 8AM to 9:50AM. Experience in teaching, preferably at the community college or vocational technical school level is preferred. Please see the detailed position description and qualifications below .
Position
Teach multiple courses in Computer, Software and Networking Technology. The program includes courses in Basic Electrical Principles, Applied Technical Mathematics, Physics for Networking Systems, Digital Systems Fundamentals, Computer Systems, Applied Computer Programming, Digital Communications, Embedded Computer Systems, Computer System Interfacing, Networking and Networking Security.
A broad knowledge and in-depth capability in analog and digital circuits is required. This position also requires a strong mathematics background. Strong computer systems knowledge and applications skills are also necessary. An ability to use or learn, and also teach the use of electronic circuit simulation tools is required. Demonstrated skills in circuit theory and applications are absolutely necessary. A working knowledge of digital circuit theory and discrete mathematics is also required. A strong background using electronic test and measurement equipment, and hands-on laboratory experience is absolutely necessary. A willingness to research, learn and teach areas that the candidate is not familiar with is absolutely required.
Experience using problem based learning is necessary. Employability skills such as communications, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management need to be integrated into course material. A working knowledge of commercial project development methodology including standard commercial product documentation, specifications, testing and manufacturing processes is required.
Qualifications Requirements
-A BS degree in an Electrical or Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology is required. An MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred.
-5 years minimum industry experience as a practicing engineer. Experience as an engineering manager is a plus.
- Teaching experience, preferably in a community college or a technical high school is required.
- Knowledge of project management techniques is necessary
-Knowledge of alternative energy and electrical power systems is also a plus
