The Academy of Health Professions is seeking experienced faculty to teach the following courses:
Nursing Assisting
This introductory 6 credit course requires a faculty member with a valid, active RN license, three years of long term care experience and experience as a trainer. The program will incorporate Home Health Aide training and basic nursing assistant skills in a 2 - 8 week semester course. Masters degree not required but must meet minimum Dept of Public Health Requirements to teach this course. Evening and/or weekend teaching required.
Medical Office Procedures (Receptionist and Secretary)
This introductory 3 credit course requires a faculty member who has prior experience working in a Medical/Dental office. Concepts covered include interpersonal communication, telecommunication, billing/coding and collections, reimbursement procedures, records management, mail classification and procedures. Hands-on experience using computerized medical management software for entering patient information, processing of insurance claims, scheduling patient appointments, creating office documents and charts using word and excel, generating reports. Evening and/or weekend teaching required for 2 - 8 week semester courses.
