RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Dean for Academic Advising, Transfer Counseling and Career Services will be responsible for designing and leading an integrated academic advising, transfer counseling and career services center that meets the needs of our students, faculty and staff.

SALARY:
Grade 8 ($61,600 - $92,400 annually). Starting salary within this range is dependent on upon experience in a closely related position.
START DATE:

Position: Associate Dean for Academic Advising, Transfer Counseling and Career Services
General Statement of Duties:
The Associate Dean for Academic Advising, Transfer Counseling and Career Services will report directly to the Dean for Enrollment Management and be responsible for designing and leading an integrated academic advising, transfer counseling and career services center that meets the needs of our students, faculty and staff.
Examples of Duties:
Actively collaborate with the Dean for Enrollment Management and Dean for Admissions to design, implement and assess divisional student retention initiatives.
Design and implement an integrated academic advising, transfer counseling and career services center on the Bedford and Lowell Campuses that meets the needs of day, evening and weekend students with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Design and implement effective academic advisor and faculty training programs as necessary to insure outstanding academic advising services to students
Design, implement, and disseminate effective advising, transfer and career web-based and printed resources for students, faculty and staff to insure the easy accessibility of accurate advising, transfer and career information
Identify, implement and maintain technology mediated advising tools, such as DegreeWorks and the SARS Early Alert System, necessary to support effective academic advising, transfer counseling and career services.
Actively collaborate with academic deans, program coordinators, faculty student affairs and enrollment management staff in the design, development and assessment of effective advising processes, resources, and training programs.
Actively collaborate with the College Registrar on the design, implementation, and assessment of effective academic advising/registration processes for new and returning day and evening students enrolling in credit courses
Actively coordinate with Student Affairs staff to design and provide effective student orientation programs to MCC students
Actively collaborate with the Dean for Admission to provide appropriate academic advising, career counseling and transfer planning support to prospective students
Actively collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to provide effective academic and financial planning to MCC prospective and current students.
Hire, supervise, train and evaluate a staff of full and part time professional academic advisors as well as a cadre of seasonal faculty advisors
Responsible for developing and implementing efficient, accurate processes to award transfer credit to MCC students
Responsible for developing and implementing efficient, accurate processes for reviewing students for graduation and for certifying the completion of their degree requirements
Actively collaborate with Academic and Student Affairs to provide an integrated academic advising experience for at risk students on probation
Actively collaborate with the Dean for Admissions to review candidates for admission to selective programs
Actively collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to design and implement an effective Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress review process.
Responsible for supervising the administration of the Joint Admission, Dual Enrollment, Two Plus Two and Veterans programs
Serve as a member of the Banner Student Users Group, the Curriculum Committee, the Enrollment Council and other internal and external committees as appropriate.
Responsible for developing an annual departmental assessment plan; collecting and analyzing the required assessment data, reporting the departmental outcomes and developing and disseminating an annual improvement plan based on the outcomes.
Other related duties as assigned by the Dean for Enrollment Management
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree, or equivalent administrative experience in higher education
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in an educational setting
A minimum of three years experience supervising professional staff
Demonstrated understanding of academic advising, transfer counseling and career services theory and practice
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission and student population
Experience in, and/or knowledge of, working with students, staff and faculty of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with college deans, faculty and staff to design and implement effective academic advising, transfer counseling and/or career services operations
Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and maintain technology to support college-wide advising, transfer and career services activities
Outstanding written and oral communications skills
Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills
